About the author
Máire Welford was born in Dublin. She spent several years in England, before she returned to Dungarvan, Co. Waterford and finally settled in Mallow, Co. Cork. A Primary teacher, she worked in Special Education in Dungarvan and Mallow. She has had many articles and short stories published over the years in various periodicals, most recently in The Evening Echo, Ireland’s Own and Woman’s Way. She has written four books of children’s fiction. On Land and Water is her first book of short stories.
