Introduction
Well I’d like to start off by thanking you for making the choice to purchase my book. I hope that you find it useful but more importantly, inspiring. The information in this book includes some snippets and tips I’ve picked up over the years, including a few of my favourite looks for you to try out. Honestly, I don’t believe you should follow each step to the ‘T’. If you feel a little more blush would look good or possibly a different colour eye shadow, then go for it. Make-up is like art: it’s an impression of an artist’s perspective and everyone’s should be different! Remember there are no boundaries or limitations when it comes to make-up, that’s the beauty of it. If it works for you then wear it, own it and rock it! When I first started experimenting with make-up I made some hilarious mistakes, mainly with liquid eyeliner! Never forget, “Practice makes perfect”. Only through trial & error will you perfect your chosen looks. You never know, in the process you might even surprise yourself by discovering new ones.
When I was a kid, every morning I would sit with my sister and watch my hard working mum apply her make-up in her bedroom mirror. I would often watch her and wonder why people wore make-up. As far as I was concerned, my mum was fab’ with or without it. Whenever I asked her, “Why do you wear make-up, mum?” She would say that it made her feel good about herself. Now that I’m old enough to wear make-up I can truly appreciate what she meant. I know life can be hectic but honestly, if you can manage to squeeze 10 minutes out of your day to apply your make-up, you’ll feel 100 times better for it! Always make the most of what you have and play to your strengths. Never be afraid to stand out from the crowd. I firmly believe that natural beauty is the most attractive beauty. Real beauty comes from within – so be comfortable and confident in your own skin.
Most of what I’ve learned is from hands-on experience, even though I have had some professional training. My best advice to you is invest in some decent brushes and get stuck in.

About the Author
In 2004 make-up devotee Ailbhe Murray started to build on her make-up profession by enrolling in a make-up course in Toronto, Canada. After completion of the programme Aibhe began free-lance work on friends and family. Ailbhe deepened her knowledge of make-up artistry by registering herself in additional make-up courses in Dublin. Realising the delight her expertise brought to women and understanding that not every woman could afford the time or money to enrol themselves in make-up classes, Ailbhe wanted to share her expertise with everybody.
This Idea developed into a business plan and a book proposal. On the 22nd December 2009 Ailbhe founded her company Eye-Candy.ie and began to compose her publication. The book was released in March 2010. The company website permits customers to purchase Ailbhe’s hardback book, buy cosmetic products, and view images of Ailbhe’s make-up artistry. The next step for Ailbhe is to begin to publicise her book and make a start with online make-up tutorials on her website. Ailbhe has also confirmed that Benefit cosmetics have agreed to work in conjunction with her and her website allowing beauty consumers to have easy access to their favourite Benefit products through eye-candy.ie.
Ailbhe’s determination to succeed derives from her passion for make-up. Everyone always wants to look like the stars, who have their own personal make up artists.
